Increased Potential for Wolf/Human Interactions on Isle Royale's East End
Wolf/human interactions may occur in the Tobin Harbor area and the area between McCargoe Cove and Chippewa Harbor. Report all sightings and interactions to a park ranger as soon as possible.
New Food Storage Guidelines to Reduce Human - Wildlife Interactions
In response to wolves accessing human food and garbage in and around Rock Harbor and campgrounds located on the east end of the island, new food storage guidelines to ensure the safety of visitors and wildlife are in effect.
Island Mine Campground Stream Low
The stream has very little water flow. Campers should bring enough water to Island Mine or plan on collecting water at Carnelian Beach to the south.
Swimmer's Itch at Todd Harbor
The parasite causing swimmer's itch is present in Todd Harbor. Swimming and wading is not advised. Appearing in minutes or days of contact, swimmer's itch causes an itchy rash that looks like red pimples or blisters, and usually clears up on its own.

Reduced Capacity at Malone Bay Campground Nights of July 30 – August 1, 2024
On these dates, the Malone Bay shelters are reserved for Agaaming Aki tribal summer youth camp. Isle Royale is within the traditional homelands of the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. The group sites at Malone Bay will be open for public use.
