Visitor Center Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in Winter Months
Beginning November 18, 2024 through March 31, 2025 the visitor center and bookstore will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but the historic ranch buildings will remain open seven days a week with normal winter hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Bottomland Nature Trail Will be Closed Starting September 3rd
The Bottomland Nature Trail will be closed beginning September 3rd for the trail resurfacing project. It will remain closed until work is complete. Fox Creek Trail remains open, but can only be accessed from the north through the under highway crossing. Plus d'information

Wild Bison
Bison graze in both Windmill and West Traps pastures. Sightings may be at schoolhouse parking area. Bison will defend themselves if they feel threatened. Keep 100 yards distance. A raised tail is a warning sign: bison may charge or give chase. Plus d'information
Dangerous Highway Crossing
Highway 177 is 60 mph with a blind spot directly across from the house. Safely use the highway underpass to the Fox Creek Trail just south of the visitor center parking lot. Be smart, stay alive.

Water Fountain/Bottle Filling Station Shut Off
The water fountains and bottle filling station at the restroom area across from the barn have been shut off for the winter. Toilets still function. Please plan ahead and bring enough water for hiking. Water is available in the visitor center when open.
