Fort Jay will be closing early at 1:00 pm on Wednesday October 24th. The fort will reopen at 10:00 am on Thursday October 25th. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Change in ferry service

Governors Island Ferry Service will resume operations between the Battery Maritime Building and Soissons Landing beginning at 12pm on Monday, October 14. Check at Govisland.com for tickets, schedules, and more information.

July 4th early island Closures

Due to a planned Harbor closure & street closures surrounding the BMB, Governors Island will close early on Friday, July 4, 2025. The Island hours are 7AM-3PM, check govisland.com for ferry schedule. Castle William and Fort Jay will close at 1pm.

Labor Day opening

Monday, September 1, 2025. Fort Jay and Castle Williams will be open in honor of Labor Day. The Forts will follow the weekend program schedule, 3 tours @ Castle Williams and 2 @ Fort Jay. Check our guided tour link above or recreation.gov for details
